Hi, I'm here to introduce you to the MSP430FR253x and FR263x CapTIvate Technology MCUs as well as the CapTIvate Technology development ecosystem. CapTIvate Technology enables the industry's lowest power and the most versatile capacitive touch solution, which can work reliably in noisy environments. The MSP430FR253x and 263x are the first MCUs with CapTIvate Technology.

This technology works as a fully autonomous peripheral but dedicated timers, oscillators, hardware state machine, and software in ROM. This allows engineers to use most of the 16 kilobytes of FRAM, four timers, 10-bit ADC, serial interfaces for their custom applications.

The MSP430 CapTIvate Technology MCU Development Kit is a comprehensive easy-to-use platform to evaluate CapTIvate Technology. This kit includes a programmer debugger for measuring a target MCU's power consumption using EnergyTrace feature built into Code Composer Studio. It also provides a dedicated high speed HID class USB communications channel to communicate with a PC.

Next, the isolation PCB is an optional module used to isolate the touch module from the USB power supply for EMI testing. It is also used while tuning sensors when operating on an isolated power source such as a battery. The last component is the MCU processor PCB, which features the MSP430FR2633 FRAM MCUs with CapTIvate Technology. It is capable of driving 64 buttons with 16 I/Os.

The kit also ships with three sensor boards for evaluating self-capacitance, mutual capacitance, proximity, and gestures. The self-capacitance demo board comes pre-programmed with an out-of-the-box experience that showcases CapTIvate Technology's wake-on proximity feature and ultra low power operation. The CapTIvate Technology Design Center GUI, the dedicated software for this kit, can be downloaded from ti.com/CapTIvateDesignCenter. It is a one-stop shop for tools, documentation, design guides, and code examples.

CapTIvate Technology Design Center allows developers of all programming skill levels to create capacitive touch solutions with minimal effort so that they can focus on designing the application instead of worrying about the nitty gritty details. It's available for Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux. Learn more about CapTIvate Technology Design Center in the video titled "How to tune a sensor in five minutes or less."

The MSP CapTIvate Technology MCU Development Kit allows you to easily and quickly evaluate MSP430 MCUs with CapTIvate Technology and can be purchased from the TI Store for $99. To learn more about Texas Instruments MSP430 MCUs with CapTIvate Technology, visit ti.com/capTIvate. Thanks for watching.
