The new Bluetooth 5 standard brings 3 new key features including:
- Long range mode: Get 4x the range and extend into full home/building coverage
- High speed mode: 2x data throughout and faster over-the-air downloads
- Advertising extensions: Reduce load on advertising channels and inititate long-range connections
These new features enable new applications like industrial automation (i.e. Smart Home, Smart Building) and automotive, using your smartphone as a key. TI's SimpleLink™ Bluetooth low energy CC2640R2F is the smallest SoC in the market with a 2.7mm x 2.7mm footprint and part of the SimpleLink MCU Platform of wired and wireless MCUs.
