Correcting mismatch and leakage with the AFE77xx
If you haven't yet sent a two-tone signal from the transmitter, please watch the previous video in this series titled "How to Send a Two-Tone Signal from the AFE77XX TX. Impairments in the transmit chain, quadrature mismatch, offset, et cetera, results in poor sideband and LO leakage suppression. The TXQMCLOLC algorithm integrated into the AFE77XX can be run to improve the suppression level. In this video, I'll show you how to correct the AFE77XX TX quadrature or mismatch and LO leakage. The first step is adjusting the hardware setup. Disconnect TX1 from the spectrum analyzer and connect it to the SMAJ5 titled FB1. In the previous video, we programmed AFE77XX in a mode that we refer to as USECASE1. In USECASE1, the sampling frequency of the feedback ADCs is 2,949.12 mega samples per second. The decimation factor is six. That gives an output data rate 491.52 mega samples per second. The NCO is at 3.5 gigahertz, as this needs to be equal to the transmitter at low frequency. In HSDC Pro, navigate to the ADC tab. Click on the green dropdown menu and select the ADC INI file titled AFE77XX_FB_USECASE1. Enter a data rate of 491.52 mega samples per second and press Enter. You may see a pop-up window displaying the JESD lane rate, given the INI file settings and data rate. If so, press OK. Under Test selection, select two-tone and change from the real FFT to complex FFT. Enter an ADC input target frequency of 25 megahertz. And for the second input frequency, enter 35 megahertz. Click on Capture Options under the Data Capture Options menu. Enter 8,192 for the number of samples and press OK. Select 8,192 under Analysis window. Now press Capture. Notice both the uncorrected image and LO leakage in the FFT plots. Navigate back to the Latte GUI. Click on the DOTXIQCM Python file. Select the first line and click on Run Selection in the Run menu. Go back to HSDC Pro and press Capture. You should see the IQ image and LO leakage corrected.
