Enhanced Diagnostic and Protection of Motor Drivers to Assist Robust System Development

This presentation focuses on diagnostic functions integrated in TI motor drivers. The purpose of diagnostic function is to detect failure modes in devices and/or systems, and to reduce the risk to an acceptable level in the system. The recent innovation of automotive systems such as autonomous driving or HEV/EV car systems requires more electrification of vehicle. Because of this, motorized systems in a vehicle are increasing, and detecting or preventing the failure modes in the motor driver system become more important. TI motor drivers have enhanced and integrated diagnostic functions to reduce the component counts in a system as well as to shorten the reaction time to take the action. Also, a combination of TI PMIC and Motor Drivers assist to design robust system. Lastly, this presentation explains how TI motor drivers help with the design of safety critical application.
