Isolated Power Supplies for PLC I/O Modules

Description

September 7, 2016

The training starts with an overview of an analog input module. Typical components and their voltage supply levels are shown. Next, possible power topologies like push-pull, flyback or fly-buck with their advantages and disadvantages are discussed.

The main part of the training is about the Fly-Buck topology. First, the working principle is explained. Then tips about the right selection of the duty cycle are given. Furthermore, effects of leakage inductance of a transformer are presented.

The training finishes with an overview about available TI Designs and power designs that use the Fly-Buck topology.
