Innovating space solutions start to finish
[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi, I'm Amit Goyal and today we're going to give you a quick overview of TI space products. Our team has the unique capability in the industry to deploy both Rad Hard by Design and Rad Hard by Process design techniques in our space products. Rad Hard by Design is used to optimally harden a circuit against all types of single event effects, as well total ionizing dose. When just restrictive single event [? ledger ?] and total ionizing [INAUDIBLE] hardness is needed, then Rad Hard by Process is implemented. This unique radiation design capability coupled with the largest semiconductor portfolio has enabled us to offer the largest selection of leading edge, radiation hardened and shared products on the space market. This includes some of the world's smallest point of load power solutions, a wide variety of interface solutions, some of the most integrated and highest performing ADCs in the world, and a vast array of other space products. Now I'm going to turn it over to Pam Craft-Martinez and Rob Baumann to tell you about our product line's quality assurance, space heritage, and radiation testing capabilities. TI has been working on space and high reliability products for over 45 years. And we've had products on the first space shuttle, Mars missions, the International Space Station, and many international programs including Alphasat, Glonass, and Iridium. It's especially exciting to me as the quality manager knowing that quality assurance has been such a big part of all these programs. TI has also been a key influencer at JEDEC's JC-13 for over 20 years, and it's been really rewarding to see the MIL-PRF-38535 quality standards be adopted and successfully used on these high-profile programs. In addition to ensuring quality and reliability to enable the product to perform as expected for 15 years or more in space, the product must also be made robust against the high radiation space environment. To this end, TI space products must be designed to mitigate the various radiation effects caused by energetic electrons, protons, and heavy ions that plague Earth orbit, planetary and deep space missions. The two primary radiation effects of concern are total ionizing dose and single event effects. As space products are released to market, they typically include radiation hardness assurance testing per MIL standard 1019 to guarantee TID performance, as well as other standards, to ensure that various single event characterizations meet expectations. Our space products also typically include a detailed total dose and single event effects characterization report to enable designers to understand parts performance in space. These radiation reports are publicly available at ti.com/radiation. Over the past several years, there has been an increase in the number of lower voltages and highest current acquired by FPGAs, ASICs, and ADCs. As a result, satellite power architectures have become more distributed to optimize power efficiency. This has created the need for small and efficient point of load power solutions. At less than half the size of competition, our Red Hard power products enable you to lower your launch cost. Thanks for taking time to learn a little bit about our space products.
