In this lecture, we will learn:
  • We can linearize a nonlinear dynamic model, just as we do for functions.
  • A linearized, averaged model is a linear time-invariant (LTI) system and applying LTI control theory is valid.
  • The validity of the model is limited to small perturbations and slowly variations; still, the model is surprisingly forgiving.
