In this lecture, we will learn:
- Linear regulators can provide stable and low-noise output voltages.
- Modern linear regulators have low “dropout” voltage, hence “LDO”.
- Linear regulation is inefficient, which also impacts thermal management and cost.
- LDOs need carefully selected output capacitors to be stable.
