Low VIN Buck converters for SOC power: New Trends, System Design Challenges and Solutions
2020 Automotive TI Tech Day session
New technologies in ADAS, Infotainment & Telematics drive an increasing need for powerful automotive processing platforms to enable the next generation of autonomous vehicles that are more eco-friendly, smart and connected. Today’s high performance systems-on-chip (SOCs) create unique power design challenges in managing thermal distribution, DC accuracy, AC load transients & efficiency. In this presentation, we will examine the differences between PMIC and discrete approaches when designing an SOC power supply. We will discuss how you can use low VIN buck converters (TPS6281x-Q1 and TPS62850x-Q1) to address point of load rails like DDR memory termination, MCU core or BT/Ethernet/WIFI module supplies and easily scale your design up or down with our p2p family approach.
