Shunt sensors are rapidly replacing current transformers as the preferred current sensing solution for electricity meters(e-meters) around the world.
PT100/500/1000 Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) are widely used in grid infrastructure and factory automation applications where high precision temperature measurement is often required. Technical requirements include either 20 mK precise Differential Temperature Measurement (DTM) for heat and cold meters from 0 to 180°C or better than 400 mK precision over the full range of -200 to 850°C for industrial sensor transmitters.

This modular, on-demand curriculum includes hands-on training videos, covering TI’s isolation design considerations with online course work and quizzes.
In today’s computing environment, CPUs, FPGAs, ASICs and even peripherals are growing increasingly complex and, consequently, so do their power delivery requirements. To handle the higher demands, multiphase regulators are becoming increasingly common on motherboards in many areas of computing--from laptops and tablets to servers and Ethernet switches. Designing with these regulators is more challenging than using conventional switchers and linear regulators, but the benefits of multiphase outweigh the complexity for high-performance power applications.
TI's battery experts have decades of experience. Our battery scientists bring cutting-edge solutions for new battery chemistries & technologies, from charging, gauging, monitoring, protection and more. This technical training was especially developed for design engineers working with power supply for battery-powered systems. Additional resources and design tools are provided for each training to complete your training experience.
Ultrasonic sensing techniques have been popular in smart water meters because the technology avoids any moving parts which are prone to degrade over the lifetime of the product. The MSP430FR6047 microcontroller (MCU) family takes ultrasonic sensing solutions to next level of performance delivering <25ps of accuracy, detection of low flow rates <1 liter/hour and high precision of <5ps.
FPD-Link™ Learning Center is a comprehensive online classroom for system designers integrating FPD-Link™ serializer/deserializer technology into their ADAS or Infotainment applications. The on-demand curriculum offers subject matter, from basics to advanced, to widen the technical knowledge of experienced engineers as well as assist those who are just starting to design with FPD-Link™ serializers and deserializers.
Applications Engineer Jason Tao discusses PFC basics, topology comparisons and design considerations to achieve a cost-optimized and efficient PFC design.
Mitigating switching regulator EMI and noise is seen by engineers as a black art. Mess with the feng shui of the PCB layout too much, and the system may not pass CISPR standards. Because of this, many power designers simply turn to linear regulators as a guaranteed way to avoid the headache of reducing emissions.
Learn about sub-systems and trends relevant for factory automation design
This factory automation series discusses key sub-system blocks for control systems, communication and field devices. It covers how Industry 4.0 drives changes in industrial communications, how safety requirements impact control systems (PLC, DCS, PAC, …) and field devices as well as sensing for predictive maintenance. On top of this, it also covers the necessary foundations for any engineer starting a design career in this field:
Welcome to this training series: How to Measure ECG: A Guide to the Signals, System Blocks, and Solutions.
Delta-sigma analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are oversampling converters typically used in applications requiring higher resolution. However, ADCs do not work by themselves. In fact, they require several key components around them, including a front-end amplifier, a voltage reference, a clock source, power supplies, and a good layout. Many devices integrate these features together with the ADC to offer a complete system solution, which simplifies the design for customers and minimizes board space.
This presentation will focus on the voltage and current monitoring solutions within HEV/EV system – specifically on overcoming the challenges of high voltages and maintaining an isolation barrier. Afterwards, we will discuss specific op amp parameters to consider for monitoring within the on-board charger (OBC), battery management system (BMS), DC/DC converter, and inverter end equipments.
