Battery Powered Motor Drives: How to Design a High Performance Power Stage?

Modern battery powered motor drive applications such as power tools, drones, vacuum cleaners, eBikes, etc. show a clear trend towards permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) and brushless DC motors (BLDC). The biggest challenge in designing the power stage for these applications is to meet form factor, efficiency, protection, peak current carrying capability and thermal performance. This training will explain how to do a system design to meet the design challenges  by proper selection of power FET and gate driver.

EV Charging (Pile) Stations Design Considerations

Introduction to EV Charging Stations (Piles)

This training series will discuss the design considerations for global EV charging station standards and the differences to consider for AC versus DC charging stations and for residential vs. public stations. The training also includes deep dives into the block diagrams with subsystem analysis and recommendations.

Wireless Network Challenges and Solutions for a Smarter Grid IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is now part of the smarter grid through the adoption of IPv6 communications networks. These 6LoWPAN-based networks address key concerns such as standards-based interoperability, reliability, low power, and long-distance connectivity.

Anti-tamper Techniques to Thwart Attacks on Smart Meters

Non-technical losses (“theft”) account for billions of dollars of revenue loss for utility providers around the world as individuals are able to hack meters to slow or stop the accumulation of energy usage statistics. This loss has driven increased requirements for enhancing the protection designed into new smart meters.  This training session will discuss different methods of attacking smart meters and how TI’s analog portfolio can be used to detect or even prevent these attacks. In one scenario magnets are used to saturate any transformers present in the system.

Debugging Embedded Linux Systems Training Series

Linux is well-adopted within embedded systems. But debugging Linux system issues can be overwhelming. This training series teaches the techniques of debugging kernel issues that may be encountered in embedded Linux systems. This training series explains the Linux kernel logging system and logging API, illustrates how to locate a particular device driver, and demonstrates how to read kernel oops logs.

Ultrasonic water meters have improved accuracy and precision to detect the smallest leaks to reduce water waste.

Ultrasonic Sensing for More Accurate and Precise Water Flow Meters

Ultrasonic sensing techniques have been popular in smart water meters because the technology avoids any moving parts which are prone to degrade over the lifetime of the product. The MSP430FR6047 microcontroller (MCU) family takes ultrasonic sensing solutions to next level of performance delivering <25ps of accuracy, detection of low flow rates <1 liter/hour and high precision of <5ps.

HSR and PRP Redundancy on RT Linux Training Series

This training series looks at High Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP), which are fundamental to many of the tightly-synchronized, high-reliability systems being built today. HSR and PRP work together or separate to keep systems working even when things break so that power stays on and things keep getting built. Both of them work in the low levels of the Ethernet stack to provide the applications that they serve these fundamental capabilities.

The MSP-EXP430FR2355 LaunchPad development kit training

MSP-EXP430FR2355 LaunchPad Development Kit Training

The MSP-EXP430FR2355 LaunchPad™ development kit is a member of the MSP430™ Value Line MCU family. The LaunchPad kit provides a quick evaluation and prototyping tool for the MSP430FR2355 microcontroller (MCU). This series provides an overview of the LaunchPad kit’s features and the out-of-box light sensing and smart analog combo GUI demos.

Programmable Real-Time Unit (PRU) Training Series

The Programmable Real-Time Unit (PRU) is a small processor that is tightly integrated with an IO subsystem, offering low-latency control of IO pins on TI’s SoC devices including the AM335x, AM437x, and AM57x Sitara Processors. The PRU is customer-programmable and can be used to implement simple and flexible control functions, peripherals, and state machines that directly access IO pins of the device, as well as can communicate with the application cores. This curriculum provides an in-depth look at the PRU, including hardware, firmware, application design, and drivers.

C55x Digital Signal Processors Training Series

TI’s TMS320C55x Fixed-Point Digital Signal Processors (DSP) enable high performance and low power through increased parallelism and total focus on power savings. Industry-leading active power enables computationally-intensive applications, such as voice triggering and encoding, to run on battery for extended period of time. Development tools include the award-winning eXpressDSP, Code Composer Studio (CCS), Integrated Development Environment (IDE), DSP/BIOS, optimized DSP and math libraries, and the industry’s largest third-party network.
