7.1 Simplifying your space design

Description

September 25, 2018

When designing electronics for the hostile environment of space, designers must deliver reliable systems while facing reduced size and weight allowances. Challenges addressed in this training include:

Design challenge: reduced solution size

  • using TI space reference designs to reduce board space

Design challenge: sensing and controls

  • simplifying and shrinking IC die temperature measurements
  • sensing currents across a wide range of voltage rails in a small package

Design challenge: space power

  • Reducing board space and complexity of cold sparing and power switching solutions

Design challenge: high speed communications

  • Replacing large, non-linear Baluns with a small, high-speed fully-differential amplifier
