1.10 Sitara™ ARM® Processors Boot Camp: U-boot/Linux Kernel Board Port

In this session we will cover fundamentals necessary to port a TI Linux-based EVM platform to a custom target platform. We will introduce the necessary steps needed to port the following components: secondary program loader, u-boot and Linux kernel.

Additional information

Pre-work check list:

  • Install and configure VMWare Player v4 or later
  • Install Ubuntu 12.04
  • Install the latest Sitara Linux SDK and Code Composer Studio v5
  • Within the Sitara Linux SDK, run the setup.sh (to install required host packages)
  • Using a Sitara EVM, follow the QSG to connect Ethernet, serial cables, SD card and 5V power
  • Boot the EVM and confirm the Matrix GUI application launcher on the LCD is visible
  • Pull the ipaddr of your EVM and run remote Matrix using a web browser
  • Have a USB to Serial cable (preferable)
