This presentation covers a short review of external devices that can be used to protect data converters from electrical overstress. In particular we will look at TVS diodes, and Schottky diodes. These devices will be compared and contrasted with a PN diode and Zener diode. The key important specifications that relate to overstress protection will be reviewed. As a general note, we will be doing simulations doing diodes later in this series. In general to get the most accurate results, you may want to download the spice model from the manufacture. The next video will cover this subject.
