In this video we look at protecting data converters with back-to-back internal Zener ESD protection as well as SCR type ESD protection. This type of protection is used for data converters where the input voltage range is wider than the supply voltage range. For this kind of ESD structure we will use external TVS diodes and current limiting resistors. Besides showing how to select the component values, we will show the impact on performance.
