Total Ionizing Dose (TID) Basics
Description
June 24, 2016
The most common radiation requirement in the aerospace design community is Total Ionizing Dose (TID), also known as total dose. Total dose effects can lead to degradation and/or device failure. When a transistor can switch from a low-conductance (off) state to a high-conductance (on) state as the gate voltage passes through a threshold, it is operating properly. Hindrances to this functionality include extended exposure to TID radiation and an increase in the leakage current.
