When developing a functional safety system it is a requirement of ISO 26262 that safety goals be developed. Typically these safety goals are derived from the top level application, i.e. the car/electric vehicle, and driven down to all subsystems. This on-demand technical training explains why some functional safety products have multiple safety requirements (i.e. ASIL-B, ASIL-C, ASIL-D), how they are determined by multiple safety claims, what is Safety Elements Out of Context and how we assume the safety goals are used in BMS system.
