5.4 How to select the right multiplexer or signal switch to maximize system performance

Today's competitive environment drives a continuous need for higher performance in signal switching to enhance system capabilities and optimize BOM. In an ideal analog switch, the signal applied to the input results in an identical signal at the output and vice versa. However, in the real world, switches are not ideal and there is always some loss. Every analog switch or multiplexer has parasitic resistance, capacitance and leakage current which can all have a significant impact on the performance of a system. In this training, we’ll dive into the impact these key parameters can have on your system and highlight what to look for during device selection. Additionally, we’ll review some common use cases and competitive performance data for multiplexers that support precision measurements, power sequencing, I2C, SPI, JTAG and general-purpose signals.
