2020 Automotive TI Tech Day session

Automotive system designers need simple software solutions for autonomous functional designs or to attain predictable system power-up while being mass producible. This session will introduce TI’s Smart AFE and Smart DAC portfolio of products, which provide simple intelligence to an analog system designer without the need for software. Smart AFE devices have non-volatile memory (NVM) and factory programmable state machines that enable autonomous analog designs to sense using an internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC), along with control of the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and pulse width modulation (PWM). Similarly, Smart DACs can also compare an analog signal to a factory preset values in NVM, as well as changing the DAC output or PWM output. NVM can store both analog and PWM pre-programmed waveforms that continuously play or change with the ADC or GPIO input triggers. These capabilities allow analog and software engineers to work independently, expedite design cycles and improve quality. This session will also cover how removing tiny MCUs wherever possible can help designers reduce cost, size and development time.
